Better health begins with ideas |
While many high-income countries are dropping mask mandates and other COVID-19 mandates, China continues to ramp up, as the Shanghai lockdown is in its fourth week and millions of citizens are required to PCR test three times in five days. Our first article looks at China's expansive zero-COVID strategy and what it is still largely missing: mRNA vaccines. Our next piece casts a longer gaze, examining how the intensifying U.S.-China rivalry and the Russia-Ukraine war complicate regional integration on health strategies among ASEAN nations.
Our third set of authors explain why climate change disproportionately affects incarcerated people. Next, researchers report on how the United States lags behind when it comes to providing good, affordable, and accessible primary health care for all and especially Black and Hispanic Americans. In another data-driven piece, the writers report on the surge in opioid deaths in the United States, suggesting there is much to be learned from looking beyond our borders at other countries that are managing their opioid crises better.
