Jean Kaseya

Jean Kaseya is a Congolese medical doctor and the director general of the Africa CDC. Appointed during the thirty-sixth African Union Summit in February 2023, he leads the organization's political, strategic, and technical operations with a focus on enhancing health security across Africa. Under his leadership, the Africa CDC declared mpox a Public Health Emergency of Continental Concern, accelerating vaccine approvals and securing international support.
