Placide Mbala

Placide Mbala is an associate professor at the University of Kinshasa and leads the Epidemiology and Global Health Division. He also directs the Clinical Research Center at the National Institute of Biomedical Research in Congo. Specializing in microbiology and virology, Mbala focuses on viral zoonoses and outbreak investigations. He has led research on human mpox, simian viruses, Ebola, and COVID-19, coordinating laboratory diagnostics in remote areas.
