Mariëlle Bemelmans

Mariëlle Bemelmans is executive director at Wemos, a Dutch-based international NGO advocating structural change to achieve global health justice. Wemos is a leading voice in Europe on the topic of sustainable regional production of medicines. Since 2000, Mariëlle has been working in global health, primarily holding coordinating positions at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in different countries in Africa. She was for four years responsible for HIV programmes in Malawi and for four years in Sudan, with shorter periods in Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya and South Africa. After her country experience, she worked in health policy analysis and advocacy at MSF head office in Brussels.
