Tom Frieden
Tom Frieden is the President and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives, a global non-profit initiative funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and part of the global non-profit Vital Strategies, working with countries to prevent 100 million deaths and make the world safer from epidemics. Frieden is a physician trained in internal medicine, infectious diseases, public health, and epidemiology. He is former director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and former commissioner of the New York City Health Department. He previously worked on tuberculosis control programs in New York City and India and has published more than 250 articles, reports, and chapters on infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases and risk factors, and health policy. Frieden is also a senior fellow for Global Health at the Council on Foreign Relations.
